Warrant and Lita Ford: A Night of Nostalgia and Rock Resilience

Corona, California – July 3, 2015

As the clock struck 8 pm at Pechanga Resort & Casino, the unmistakable energy of ’80s glam rock descended upon the venue. Warrant, alongside the legendary Lita Ford, orchestrated an epic show that transcended the boundaries of time, taking the audience on a journey back to the era of big hair, thick eyeliner, and anthemic rock.

In the dimly lit venue, Warrant kicked off the night, setting the stage for a musical experience that blended the classic hits of the past with the dynamism of the present. Opening for the iconic Lita Ford, Warrant proved that they were not mere relics of the ’80s but a band that has evolved, matured, and continued to captivate audiences over three decades.

The history of Warrant, as narrated by guitarist Erik Turner, reads like a rock and roll odyssey. The year was 1984, and amidst the burgeoning glam metal scene of Los Angeles, Warrant found its footing with the discovery of vocalist Jani Lane. Turner’s vision, accompanied by Lane’s unmistakable voice, propelled the band to radio gold with chart-topping hits like “Heaven,” “Uncle Tom’s Cabin,” and the unforgettable “Cherry Pie.”

In a candid interview, Turner reflected on the enduring appeal of Warrant’s music. The band, now in its thirtieth year, still resonates with audiences across generations. Turner acknowledged the role of nostalgia, emphasizing that people want to relive the soundtrack of their youth. Warrant’s music, with its melodic rock and roll, serves as a time capsule, transporting listeners to the heyday of high school and college.

Despite the passage of time, Warrant remains a formidable force in the rock scene. The lineup may have seen changes, notably with the replacement of Jani Lane by vocalist Robert Mason, but the spirit and dedication to their craft endure. Turner shared the challenges faced during Lane’s tumultuous period with alcohol, emphasizing the band’s decision to carry on and keep the music alive.

Warrant’s commitment to both their classic hits and new music was evident in their 2011 studio album, “Rockaholic.” The band continues to tour alongside ’80s counterpart Lita Ford, embracing a fan base that spans multiple generations. Turner highlighted the band’s evolution as musicians, emphasizing a focus on delivering a great show and playing their best.

Looking back on the evolution of the music industry, Turner commented on the shift from albums to digital downloads. He acknowledged the challenges faced by emerging artists in building a connection with their audience in the age of single-song downloads. Despite these changes, Warrant’s staying power and ability to weather the shifts in the industry speak volumes about the quality of their music.

As the July 3rd show approached, anticipation filled the air. Fans were treated not only to the classic hits that defined an era but also to the rejuvenated sound of a band that has stood the test of time. For Warrant, it’s not just about reliving the past; it’s about embracing the present, appreciating the journey, and, above all, having a great time playing the music they love.

In the words of Erik Turner, “It’s rock and roll, and it’s still a lot of fun, and we definitely have a great appreciation for the fact that we still get to do it.” Warrant’s resilience and love for the stage continue to make them a force to be reckoned with in the ever-changing landscape of rock and roll.
